After his father, Aldo Burrows, deserted the family before his birth, Michael took up his mother's maiden name as his surname to start a new life because she told him that his father was an alcoholic and drug user (which was later proved untrue). He obtained a jail sentence by robbing a bank to be incarcerated in Fox River State Penitentiary, the first step of his prison break plan. When his older brother, Lincoln Burrows, was sentenced to death for a crime he didn't commit, Michael created an elaborate plan to break him out. Scofield is the main protagonist and principal character of the series.

I learnt the first two tapes to my sister and now she and her boyfriend are hooked! They went out and rented the rest of the tapes. I give this show TWO THUMBS UP! AND 5*****, HECK I GIVE IT 100 STARS.I definetly recommend buying the DVD set it is money well spent! You will find yourself with your mouth open and your hand reaching for the next dvd.

This show is on whole nother level! It is somewhere in between a movie and a drama(pilot). The actors are all terrific, I mean there is not one bad actor in the bunch the entire crew is perfectly cast not one of the characters or actors could have been recast or replace! It is amazing how the camera catches the light reflecting in Wentworth's eyes or how the shots are so close that you can feel every obstacle the character is facing. The characters are so real, and the camera shots are off the hook. The whole first season is not only about these two main characters but also about the people they incorporate into their inner circle. The story follows the character of Michael, (played by Wentworth Miller) who infiltrates himself into the prison where his brother, Lincoln is on deathrow and scheduled for immediate execution. This show is absolutely the best show on Television! Fans of 24, will love this show every episode is a cliff hanger.I often wonder how the writer could ever think of so many twist and turns.

This is unlike the 24 series where the main character demonstrated a level of vi olence (especially early in Season 1 and throughout the final season) that became intolerable (had it not been the final season I would have stopped watching the series). while there is SOME violence, there is not a lot of blood and gore. The prison break aside, there is mystery and suspense about Lincoln's being arrest and imprisonment.Ģ. there is a story or plot involved beyond a prison break.

I decided to spend less money and have greater control over my viewing options by buying (on the cheap from Ebay) recommended TV series (I love the absence of commercials and being able to watch several hours in one sitting - if I wish)and movies that I missed in the theatre.ġ.
I bought this series because there is very little that I care to watch on television.
